The REU begins on Monday\u00a0May 20, 2019\u00a0<\/b>and ends on Friday\u00a0July 26, 2019.\u00a0<\/b>A bit more detailed program is as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. Week 1-2: Orientation and Training\n
      \n
    • Welcome and Department of Mathematics and Statistics\/UNCG tour<\/li>\n
    • Computing systems overview<\/li>\n
    • Initial meetings with PIs and social gatherings<\/li>\n
    • Selection of topics for participants and beginning of the research<\/li>\n
    • Intensive, targeted workshops on game theory and basic ecology<\/li>\n
    • Introductory workshops on using LaTeX and MATLAB, and on using library and online resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Week 2-10: Participant Research Participation\n
        \n
      • Group meetings (daily)<\/li>\n
      • Mathematical writing sessions (bi-weekly)<\/li>\n
      • Prepare technical reports on their research (weekly)<\/li>\n
      • Coffee hour (everyday), “Brown-bag” lunch and dinner (weekly)<\/li>\n
      • Content\/research skill seminar development and\/or field trip (weekly)<\/li>\n
      • Responsible Conduct of Research training (bi-weekly)<\/li>\n
      • Visits of nearby campuses (exact dates TBD)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Week 10: Participant Project Presentations\n
