{"id":332,"date":"2024-10-25T14:40:50","date_gmt":"2024-10-25T18:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/math-sites.uncg.edu\/statistics-reu\/?page_id=332"},"modified":"2025-01-27T16:25:49","modified_gmt":"2025-01-27T21:25:49","slug":"reu-2025","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/math-sites.uncg.edu\/statistics-reu\/reu-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"STATS REU REU 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><b data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\">Complex Data Analysis Using Statistical and Machine Learning Tools\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\">UNC Greensboro, one of the campuses of the University of North Carolina System, will offer a 10-week REU program from May 26\u2013July 31, 2025, for 10 nationally recruited undergraduate students from mathematical sciences. The program will be funded by <b data-ogsc=\"\">NSF grant DMS-2244160.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\">The focus of the program will be on\u00a0<b data-ogsc=\"\">Complex Data Analysis using Statistical and Machine Learning Tools<\/b>. The ten students will be divided into 4-5 research teams of up to 2-3 students, each headed by a team of faculty Mentors. Students will be able to choose from a wide range of Projects covering topics such as high dimensional data analysis, machine learning, robust data analysis, genetics, topological data analysis, and data confidentiality.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"\"><span data-ogsc=\"\">Emphasis during the training will be on both theory and applications. In addition to focused research on these topics, the program will offer participants a broad professional development training through various workshops and invited lectures.
